Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – have your say

RIMPA runs a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. It is available to professional members, and is currently completed annually.

CPD is defined as:

“The systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skill, and the development of personal qualities necessary for the competent execution of professional and technical duties throughout a professional’s working life”.

RIMPA admits that the current process for applying for CPD has some flaws. The explanations are confusing and complex, and there has not been a consistent or transparent method of accepting reports of CPD. Various members have reported having issues understanding and navigating the process. The recordkeeping for it has not been maintained as well as it could have been.

RIMPA would like to announce that a temporary Working Party will be formed to review and modernise the CPD program. Priority areas include:

  • Simplify and update the points system and explanations of what contributes to CPD
  • Provide more advice on how to find and complete CPD activities (learning opportunities)
  • Streamline and improve the process to report CPD
  • Review the process for CPD compliance audits

We are asking for members, and the wider community, to have their say via an online survey by Monday 30 October. The temporary Working Party will review the survey results and the CPD program. Results will be announced in the future.
