Four long standing members of the Records Information and Management Professionals were honoured with the highest of accolades at the annual gala awards dinner held at the Hobart Function and Convention Centre during the organisation’s annual conference InForum on 12 September.
Joy Siller and Julie Apps were overjoyed on the evening when they were presented with Life Membership by Chair of the Board Thomas Kaufhold, in a glitzy night of nights for RIM professionals.
Joy Siller spoke on the night and said that:
“it is always pleasing to be recognised in one’s profession and to know that time and effort has not gone unnoticed. I am extremely grateful for the recognition and, despite being part of the ‘old guard’, trust that I can continue to add to the information management sphere of knowledge for many more years. To receive such an honour is a wonderful surprise and greatly appreciated”
Whilst David Pryde and Trish O’Kane were unable to attend the RIMPA Annual Gala Awards,David Pryde, when told of his achievement, said that:
“Life membership is something that your RIM heroes have and if you dare – you can aspire too. I didn’t believe it when I was notified because I didn’t think I had done anything that special.
You plug into the RIMPA network and system and learn what you can so that you can apply and share with the next person. Advancing the profession and connecting our members is our purpose.
I believed it even less when I saw who was being honoured beside me.
Julie Apps is one of my top 3 RIM heroes, Joy and Trish are legends in their respective countries. I feel very privileged and humbled by this honour”.
Congratulations to Julie, Joy, David and Trish
