Currently, RIMPA Global is actively engaging with Parliament and the media through various communications to emphasise the significance and enhancement of recordkeeping practices within the APS. Despite recommendations from recent royal commission reports advocating for improvements in records management, there seems to be little to no progress in this area. Recognising that changes in legislation, organisational culture, and processes take time, RIMPA Global urges the initiation of discussions to eventually reach a positive outcome.

Julie Carpenter is a passionate advocate of information and records management.
Julie has over 20 years’ experience in the Commonwealth Public Service and is currently working in the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. With University qualifications in both Information and Knowledge Management, she specialises in planning IM strategic direction and developing and implementing policy to support compliance.
She has volunteered on the ACT RIMPA Branch Council and as the most recent President, worked to create a community for members and assist them to get the most out of their membershipEx-Director General, National Archives of Australia
David began his career at the Australian Customs Service in 1979, managing major innovative border management projects for passenger processing and cargo control. In 1987, he joined Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as a Senior Consultant and Account Manager, working with CSC's clients in the defence, science, immigration, and ACT Government sectors on information management, strategic planning, and project management. In 1993, David founded Business Synetics, a company that provided strategic planning, information systems architecture, and business process improvement services to a broad range of Federal Government agencies including Treasury, Health, Immigration, and the intelligence community.
In 2002, David joined the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) as it was embarking on an extraordinary period of growth and change. For five years, he held the position of CIO, driving innovation in technical infrastructure, analytical capability, and digital information management. He was appointed to the position of Deputy Director-General in July 2007, managing a program of change across the human capital framework, intelligence and information policy, legislative reform, protective security policy, and the construction of the new ASIO central office.
In 2012, David was appointed as Director-General of the National Archives of Australia, and over 10 years, led reforms across government in the areas of digital records and information management; declassification of sensitive documents; and the exploitation of emerging technology to enhance the public’s access to government information. Throughout his tenure, he worked hard to advocate for transparency and integrity in public administration.
David is a strong believer in international collaboration and has been an active member of the International Council on Archives (ICA) since 2012, hosting the ICA Congress in Brisbane. In 2013, he was elected President Forum of National Archivists (FAN), and served as President of the ICA from 2014 to 2022. In 2015, David was appointed by the Director-General UNESCO to the UNESCO Memory of the World International Advisory Committee, serving as a Vice Chair of that Committee from 2015 to 2023.
Currently, David is engaged as a Special Advisor to the Director-General National Library and Archives of the UAE. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Professional Member of the Australian Society of Archivists. In 2023, David was honoured to be made Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters (Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres) by the Republic of France.

Anne Cornish, MRIM (Life), is a seasoned veteran of the information management (IM) industry with over 40 years of experience. Throughout her career, Anne has been a passionate advocate for raising the profile of the industry and its practitioners. Her journey has taken her from a practitioner in Local Government for 10 years, to a reputable consultant for both private and government clients for 26 years, and ultimately to the CEO position at RIMPA Global for five years. Along the way, Anne has gained a diverse set of skills that are all related to information management and has a talent for promoting IM and sharing experiences and uses these skills to help others understand what is needed to remain competitive in the ever-evolving world of IM.
