A Message from RIMPA Global CEO, Anne Cornish Life MRIM
'Tis the season—Another Year Draws to a Close
On behalf of the RIMPA Board and our dedicated staff, I extend warm wishes for the holiday season, a joyous Christmas, and a prosperous New Year.
The year 2023 marked another exciting chapter in RIMPA's journey. It was our inaugural year as an officially recognised global entity, accompanied by the launch of the Ambassador Program which featured industry legends and enthusiastic emerging professionals.
During this year, RIMPA took ownership of a product formerly known as the Australian Records Retention Manual (ARRM), which has been renamed the Management of Information Legislation Australia (MILA). MILA is an online tool designed to provide easy access to legislation governing record retention requirements for private enterprises. It caters to small, medium, and large enterprises, contributing to RIMPA's growth in private industry membership and creating a new revenue stream.
RIMPA's global presence expanded as we presented and hosted information management events worldwide, including Canada, Manchester, Kenya, the USA, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and Singapore. Additionally, we proudly co-founded the Global Information Consortium with our partners from ARMA, aiming to advocate for information management on a global scale.
At this year's RIMPA Live event on the Gold Coast, we welcomed numerous international speakers and engaged exhibitors, making it one of our most successful events to date.
Advocacy became a core focus in 2023 with RIMPA members actively responding to more than 12 requests for comments on legislation and strategies. The Chair of the Board also initiated discussions with the Federal Government to underscore the importance of a mandatory approach to effective records and information management. Our partnership with a Public Relations Company yielded substantial results, with over 15 articles and news items highlighting our industry and how RIMPA can offer assistance.
These are just a few of the many accomplishments we, as a collective membership, can take pride in. Our achievements reflect our collaborative efforts, and we should collectively value what we have accomplished and aspire to even greater promotion in the future.
As Christmas approaches, let us remember that caring for one another is a value we uphold year-round within the RIMPA family. On December 31st, we bid farewell to our esteemed RIMPA monarch and Chair of the Board, Thomas Kaufhold. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to him for his exceptional work over the past six years and the preceding years. Thomas has played a pivotal role in the transformative changes RIMPA has undergone, serving as a supportive and respected leader.
Looking ahead to 2024, RIMPA will continue its growth and evolution under the leadership of our incoming Chairperson, Bonita Kennedy. Bonita is enthusiastic and deeply committed to her role, and our staff look forward to working alongside her and the new Board.
So, as you enjoy your well-deserved break, cherish time spent with family and friends, and focus on safety, I look forward to seeing you all in the coming year.
