ARA Strategy Consultation for 2025-2030: Shaping the Future of Recordkeeping

As they near the end of our current strategy in September 2025, the ARA are preparing to consult with their members on a new strategy for the period starting in October 2025.
Context and Strategy Overview
Our new five-year strategy will address key areas in the recordkeeping sector, setting goals but leaving room for flexible action. The strategy will inform an action plan, detailing the steps required to meet these goals, and guide our annual business plans.
Building on Strategy 2020-2025
Since 2020, we have worked towards the goals set in our current strategy. The new plan will build on this foundation, taking into account feedback from members and sector developments.
Consultation and Feedback
In December 2024, we shared a draft strategy with members. The consultation showed strong support for most of our objectives, with revisions made based on 283 comments received. The strategy aligns with our core objectives and focuses on future-proofing the sector, balancing digital transformation with the preservation of traditional record-keeping skills.
Your Feedback Needed
We now seek your input on how to move forward. The consultation survey asks for feedback on:
- Actions ARA can take to achieve the strategy’s goals
- How the record-keeping sector can contribute
- Successful initiatives and research to help us achieve our aims
- Challenges to progress and potential solutions
