ASA Releases Position Paper on WA State Records Act 2000
In late 2024, the State Records Commission of Western Australia released its Annual Report for 2024. The Annual Report provides an explanation of missing and under resourced capabilities that have inhibited full implementation of Western Australia's State Records Act 2000.
Prepared by Dr Mark Brogan, WA Branch Advocacy Coordinator, and endorsed by Council, the Position Paper argues that resourcing and capability investment by the WA Government are insufficient for the operation of a modern archives and records service in a digital operating environment and have compromised the goals and operation of the Act in relation to preservation, discovery and access
