Cyber Breach Hits NSW Online Court Registry: Thousands of Sensitive Documents Accessed

A significant cybersecurity breach has impacted the NSW Online Registry website, resulting in the unauthorised download of approximately 9000 sensitive court documents.

The breach affected filings from the NSW Supreme, District, and Local Courts, including affidavits and apprehended violence orders.

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), which manages the platform, has taken the website offline while investigations are underway. Users currently encounter a "Service Unavailable" error message when attempting to access the site.

NSW Police have launched Strike Force Pardey to investigate the breach, with cybercrime detectives working closely with DCJ to contain the incident and assess the full extent of the exposure.

Authorities are urging anyone who believes their personal information may have been compromised to report the matter via ReportCyber.
