RIMPA Global at ARMA InfoCon Conference
This event was a significant milestone for RIMPA’s global presence, bringing together delegates from Canada, the Bahamas, Cuba, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA as well as many other countries.
During the conference, which attracted over 900 delegates, RIMPA met with the ARMA Board of Directors to discuss future collaboration. It was agreed that the relationship between ARMA and RIMPA is now well-established, and both parties will alternate attendance at each other’s conferences every second year. This ensures the relationship is maintained with an in-person meeting once per year.
A major highlight of the conference was the finalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Archives and Records Association (ARA). This agreement established a unique tri-continent membership opportunity, connecting members across North America, Australia and New Zealand, and the United Kingdom and Ireland. This strategic partnership is designed to broaden access and benefits for RIMPA members on a global scale.
RIMPA also participated in an in-person Global Information Consortium (GIC) Executive meeting, where the list of committed members was finalised, and the agenda for the inaugural Global Council meeting in November was developed.
RIMPA’s presence on a panel discussing the impacts of legislation highlighted our expertise and forward-thinking approach in addressing regulatory challenges within the industry.
The conference provided excellent returns on our investment, particularly through engagements with new vendors, three of whom are now considered strong prospects for the 2025 RIMPA Live trade show. Their clientele in Australia aligns with RIMPA's focus on expanding industry partnerships.
Aligned with the Status Implementation Working Group’s project scope, RIMPA also had productive discussions with the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) regarding certification options. These discussions explored how RIMPA can implement processes to formally recognise the skills of information management practitioners.
Overall, the ARMA InfoCon Conference was invaluable in expanding RIMPA’s global network, strengthening partnerships, and furthering its global presence in the information management sector.
