RIMPA's Global Outreach: CEO Anne Cornish in Kenya to Foster IM Development

As part of RIMPA Global's commitment to advancing records and information management (IM) in emerging regions, CEO Anne Cornish recently travelled to Kenya to participate in the Kenya Association of Records Managers and Archivists (KARMA) five-day conference.

This visit is a key component of the board-endorsed global strategy aimed at supporting IM in developing countries, further solidifying RIMPA Global’s role as a leader in the global IM community.

During the conference, held on the shores of Lake Naivasha and attended by over 400 delegates, RIMPA Global was celebrated as an honoured partner. Anne accompanied the formal procession for the Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Dr. Margaret Nyambura Ndung'u, and engaged in productive discussions with the Secretary’s aides. These conversations focused on expanding RIMPA’s Global Training programs across Kenya, highlighting RIMPA Global’s dedication to fostering professional growth in the IM sector.

One of the pivotal moments of the conference was Anne’s workshop on leadership, which drew an audience of over 50 attendees. In an encouraging sign of enthusiasm for professional development, 35 participants registered interest in RIMPA Global’s upcoming leadership diploma program, launching in 2025.

RIMPA Global's collaboration with KARMA and Metrofile will also include a two-year Talent Development Program for emerging IM professionals in Kenya. This initiative will offer nine selected practitioners’ mentorship, specialised training, and complimentary RIMPA Global membership, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to advance their careers. This program exemplifies RIMPA Global’s dedication to nurturing talent and empowering the next generation of IM leaders in Kenya.

During the opening ceremony, Anne expressed gratitude for the partnership with KARMA, stating, “This collaboration aligns with RIMPA Global’s vision to bring resources, mentorship, and a global network to regions where IM is gaining recognition as a foundation for sustainable development and effective governance.” She emphasised that the KARMA Talent Development Program would serve as a pilot initiative to refine RIMPA Global’s support model, with the aim of creating scalable, lasting benefits for IM professionals worldwide.

The KARMA conference proved to be a memorable experience for RIMPA Global who were treated with warm hospitality and recognised as valuable contributors to Kenya’s IM community. Anne’s speech highlighted the mutual benefits of the partnership, underscoring RIMPA Global’s commitment to supporting the professional development, advocacy, and technological advancements of Kenya’s IM sector.

With initiatives like these, RIMPA Global continues to strengthen its global presence and foster valuable partnerships that promote IM excellence across borders. We look forward to introducing the nine Talent Development Program participants to the RIMPA Global community and supporting their journey toward a successful career in records management.
