Tangerine Telecom Says Customer Data of 232,000 Affected by ‘Cyber Incident’
Tangerine Telecom, a provider of NBN and mobile services, experienced a significant data breach affecting 232,000 current and former customers. Reported by Ry Crozier on February 21, 2024, the breach was facilitated through a contractor's compromised credentials, leading to unauthorised access of personal data from June 2019 to July 2023. Compromised data includes names, birth dates, contact details, and account numbers. CEO Andrew Branson expressed deep regret over the incident and assured that steps are being taken to prevent future breaches, emphasising the absence of payment and identity document details in the breached data.
