This presentation delves into the history of RIM standards from an Australasian standpoint, exploring the driving forces behind their inception and evolution. By examining the historical context and contemporary challenges, we aim to elucidate the enduring relevance and evolving nature of RIM standards in the Australasian context, considering the interplay between global standards like MoReq and DoD 5015, and the contributions of ISO standards such as ISO 15489, ISO 23081, ISO 30300, among others, as well as historical standards like AS4390, DIRKS, and Keyword AAA
