The purpose of this paper is to highlight the significance of Information Management in increasing the efficiency of an organization.

Various studies in this stream have observed that measuring IM efficiency plays a significant role in improving organizational productivity and ultimately increasing revenue. Today, professionals round the globe spend 5–15 percent of their time reading information and up to 50 percent looking for it. One of the prime reason for the same is the unstructured information management.

This paper would highlight the various practices in information management and indicate the existing gaps in the stream.

Paper also proposes a way forward by suggesting implementation of Key Performance Indicators to measure the performance of people, process and systems specific to Information Management.
