BREAKOUT CITY ROOM 2
The International Standards Organisation Subcommittee 11 (SC 11) leads international best practice records management by providing frameworks, models, standards, and guidance for designing and implementing records practices and process.
Established in 1998, SC 11 is the home of records management experts from 52 countries, who work together to drive practice improvement in public and private organisations by creating benchmarks that influence the continuous improvement of the industry as a whole. From its beginnings with 4 working groups, the work of SC 11 now stretches across 11 working groups that cover a vast range of topics from records disposition through to the intersection of artificial intelligence and records management.
Australia is a well-established ‘strong voice’ in international records management best practice. In fact, the SC 11 foundational standard - ISO 15489 - originated from the work of Australia's records management experts. Since then, Standards Australia's Records and Document Managment Committee (IT-021) has become known world-wide for the quality of both its work and the members that it endorses to represent Australia in the international space.
This presentation will discuss the work of SC 11 and its forward plan for continued leadership in an industry that is experiencing an unprecedented rate of change in how information is created, kept, and used in day-to-day environments.
